The Community Alliance to Promote Education—C.A.P.E.—began as one of 24 grants given by the Lilly Foundation to promote educational support in Indiana. Third graders receive support and instruction the first quarter of the school year and are replaced by 1st grade students for the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th quarters of the school year. Second grade students are in the program for all quarters of the school year.
